Perpetual has axed STO, and it could be picked up by another company, its not looking good.

I would have taken a look at it, being a low level trekkie and all, but its not devastating to me at all.

Having been in the God and Hero's Beta I can not say that I am surprised. If STO was anything close to what GNH was like it would need more help then time nor money would allow. There were a lot of bug that made you want to :bang:. The quest were fun but the fact that grouping did not give anyone in the party exp made grouping impossible. You could not go to your camp without falling through the world and getting stuck at the end of nowhere. Porting into city need a walkaround. Porting bugs, graphic bug, god powers that were never use because they were lame and quest expect a 10 lvl character to defeat lvl 20 mob sometimes. I think you get the point.

It is quite sad really..However, after reading all the things that they wanted to do with STO, I knew it was destined to fail. It is a great concept, for next generation (pun intended) PCs. At least the whole owning starships and having a virtual career and all that cool groovy stuff. It just isn't Star Treks time for MMO. No Star Trek game that wasn't RTS has even made a dent in the gaming market. And the last good Star Trek game was Star Trek: Birth of the Federation, imo. Though, even it didn't do overly well. It was still a fun game though. It and Star Wars: Rebellion kept me entertained for over a year. Good times, good times...
And the Star Trek series has had a serious dry spell as of late. But, with the new moving being developed, they may yet have hope. TGN was one of the top shows airing during its time..And they decided to end the show during the height of its popularity..It could have gone on strong for at least another 3-4 seasons. However..they wanted to do their thing and thats that. Plus, the last movie filled me with a raging, boiling, vile putrescent loathing of its writers. They needlessly killed off Data. *sigh* May their crotches each for 20 years. That nagging under-the-skin itch too.
And speaking of writers..When is that strike going to end!? I wanna see House and Bill Maher's new rules!

and back to the op's topic..........whats probably happening at p2 is that EA is redistributing the teams throughout thier burgeoning enterprises to work on other projects (that is those that still have jobs). It's what EA does best, buy, spread the experienced members to thier core projects, dump the rest. And if they can sell the STO franchise to another house, all the better for them.
Although I truly thought that they had made this purchase to get into the mmo business with a title that might have mass appeal on its side.

Dammit dammit sonofabitch!!!!
So much for that... I was so looking forward to an upgrade in the sci-fi department that would put the kibosh on SWG...
Dammit!!!!
I guess I shall have to be happy hanging my hat on AoC then for the forseeable future... Which, present company considered will most likely be a fun rollercoaster ride anyway...
