Hehe, ah - nothing finer than flashbacks to annoyingly memorable commercial tag-lines. Hello peeps. Daedleus here, one of the Council-members in Cerca Trova. It's been a long while since I got a chance to stop by these forums and browse, let alone post. I've been pretty distracted with the holiday season, and quite lax in my intention to post here!
We've gotten some warm greetings from SWC here and there, and they are happily recieved! I just wanted to stop by and introduce myself and wish you all good tidings, especially during the holiday season!
Some of you likely have no clue who the hades I am - Nothing fancy here. 30 year old Married father of 3, soon 4. I live in South Central Minnesota and spend alot of time dabbling around with a hobbyists interest in things like Coding, website design, graphics, 3d modelling, and similar tasks. Im not very good at many of em, but hey, it's a hobbyists interest :D
I can't wait till AoC launch. I've been an MMO player fer a decent while now and have played more than my fair share of MMO's. After finally getting tired of Burning Crusade wannabe raiding I finally stepped away from - what was one of the better known Horde guilds on my server and started on the hunt for that new killer app.
I haven't found it yet - Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising, looked like it might be promising (If a bit weak) and I really threw myself behind the product. Even joined Cerca Trova because of that game. But Perpetual Entertainment revealed they were not quite as perpetual as they'd hoped and folded. Which left me and my Cerca Trova Buddies looking for a new game. We think we've finally found it in Age of Conan and I don't think any of us are able to remain all too patient waiting for this upcoming game! Cept those few you have apprently been enjoying thier beta without me! (/cry)
At any rate - my broski's and I have been merrily getting to know who's who in the community and are trying to make at least a decent first impression. I truly intended to post earlier but distractions come all too frequently and I kept finding, even the mere 15 minutes it'd take to post, an encumberance with myself either forgetful of my intent or distracted :( But I'm here now, and more than happy to not only say Hi but to also wish everyone the best of the year end season and I look forward to getting to know more of ya chaps, and potential chap-ettes! :barb:

Hello and welcome!
You gotta love Minnesota, I am a product of UMD, I loved Duluth, hell I loved everything about Minnesota. Plus what better a place to be from for AoC, with the vikings everywhere. :barb:
I feel your pain, BC was a terrible addition for WoW and they are just going downhill every day. I don't feel bad at all about quitting that game, in fact my last line before I logged off for good was "I have to get rid of this demon in my life." That game was so much of a grindfest, the fun had left. AoC looks to me to be something completely different and a breath of fresh air in the MMO world.
You are all welcome here, pick up a mug of ale, and sit by our fires. Have a wonderful holiday season (read that as, Christmas for the politically correct). We hope to be hearing more from you. :thumb:

Hi and welcome to our fires. I don't know if you guys are an RP guild but if you are and we end up on the same server maybe we can do some joint RP, either co-operatively or as combatants on different sides. We are always looking for other groups to interact with on a mature and fun level.

Welcome, and for stopping by :). I also am from Minnesota, and go to the U of M. You said you live in south central Minnesota... I'm guessing Rochester.

More north... Faribault - place nested on 35.
Graelok - I dont expect the majority of our core members will really get into any RP but they play nicely enough to know better than ruin immersion when on Rp servers.
it's actually a bit of a fact with us that we're of a mind to try to find a home with you guys, Hand of Set, and so on if possible - so that pretty much demands we roll on Rp servers.
Rp-PvP is what it seems will be the case.
Me, personally, I'm a pretty hardcore tabletop Rp'er. So, though I haven't done any Video Game MMO Rp - I'm certain I'd feel quite comfortable on an Rp server and would probably get involved in "character" stuff quite well.
But.. I won't like. the gamer in me will ensure that despite any Rp action I'd be focused on advancement goals. I'd just work hard to disguise it so everyone has a blast :P

I don't see that as a problem, if we do something together in the way of co-operative pvp or end up as adversaries we will just have to write your side of it if we want it in the chronicles. We are not a hard core rp group and anticipate great things from the pvp aspect of the game. I think that finding other people to enjoy the game with is going to be the high points anyway.
Even if we don't rp an action, a planned out war can be fun. I don't mean planned out as in we decide before hand who does what. I mean we agree to disagree and declare war on someone and then challenge them to a battle where both sides can organise an offence and a defence and know when to have their people present. Then have an epic battle involving all kinds of strategy using the game mechanics, siege engines, cavalry units archers, formations, etc. I just see so many possible things to do with other mature players that no other game has really offered.

Greetings and welcome Daedleus,
We're pleased you stopped by and look forward to more intereaction with your merry band. ;) I think you'll find SWC fairly like minded, and we too look forward to meeting other communities as the game approaches.
We can certainly talk more as we wait for AoC to grow closer, and think we might be able to find some fun in the mean time, and certainly in game. :thumb:
We are a RP based guild, but you'll find that we're not hardcore. We do plan on RP events in the game, but many people will be focused on the goals in the game and ofc the PVP aspect. :barb2:
For SWC, its more about the repect factor and letting people enjoy their game they want to play, so we give RP'res a wide birth and let them have their fun. In many cases, I'll jump into a off the cuff RP session with strangers, as I think its some of the best RP you can find in the game.
Having some table top RP exp, you'd be a natural. :D Its just a nice added layer of fun when the mood strikes, and even if its nothing that is the center of your focus, its a great immersion tool.
Looking forward to seeing you again, our fires are always open to you and CT.

Hail Daedleus,
The fires of our tavern are warm and our ale is cool .... You and your broski's from Cerca Trova are welcomed to both.
Be careful when having a conversation with Kilgen after he has a keg .... he starts repeating himself. :D But we love him that way!!!
Anywho.....Have a nice and safe holiday season!

Rather than start a new thread on the matter - though I probably should.
What kind of relationship exists betwen Hand of Set and Silver Wolf? I'm sure it's a positive one - but is ther more too it? Any word of alliance or anything?
I ask because I just a bit ago started a post asking Hand of Set about thier alliances, thier "Hyborian Accord" and so on. For some it's a bit early to worry over such things. But hey, I like to plan ahead :D
If there is something to the relationship between HoS and SWC then it'd probably be good for me to know about it in advance :P But assuming there isn't I'm still curious what the chances of some of thes awesome guilds SWC, HoS, and I like to think CT all rolling on the same server post launch.. Shouldn't be too difficult to manage word of server choice so long as everyone in question keeps thier ears open and are willing to compromise on server selection.
Even if alliance with CT and other guilds isn't possible - i can pretty well already assume CT will be looking to join a server with peeps we've gotten to know.
So I ask more plain once more - What's the word on SWC and alliances? Is it too early to give a crud for you guys? Too late? Don't care? Buzz off? lol
Just me trolling for info - Se ya again soon.

We're also part of the Hyborian Accord. So we will have alliances with some guilds. For RP purposes some of the guilds in the HA will probably be at war with each other and whatnot .... but by being part of the HA we can we all are going to have more power on the server....all I mean about that is we can maybe get 2-3 guilds together for sieges and whatnot.
It's still early and we don't have anything anchored in stone yet. but as lauch gets closer this is something we should start discussing more and more.

Just on the Minnesota note, I lived in Eagan for a little over a year, right after I graduated from high school. A little suburb in the south twin cities area. Probably the best summer I ever had in my life. Winters are too damn cold and last too long for my taste though. But those Yankee ladies sure did love my accent

I dont mind the winters at all. I just hate getting delayed driving somewhere in the winter because people think they can drive as fast as normal in a snow storm. When will people learn :shake:

LOL, try living in Oklahoma. We don't get much in the way of snow but we get pummled by ice. Most drivers here think they can drive crazy on that too :bang:

Hey Strummer,
Seraphim....that's a name most on these boards don't know. Stick around and start your own threads and participate in ongoing threads. Let those of whom who don't know you get to know you. We've acquired a great group of individuals and are looking to reign on high once the wolves are released from their den.
Post up an app! I'd love to see it.
Welcome and Cheers!
